It’s hard today to land a good job!! Really is, everything is done over the internet,where it’s cold,informal,your submitting your application to some server in some company along with thousand of other people,hoping that someone will see it and call!!!
Now my wife is beating me up,get the paper go to these places!! Then it dawned on me what a jerk I WAS to my kids, pounding on them like everyone was pounding on me.
Places that take an application on the spot are jobs you don’t really want they are paying trash and nobody else wants it. I bet if you filled it out with all stupid answers, they would hire you” you know which ones I’m talking about” Then there is the WHORE Biz which means they hire everyone that applies ie: (looking for managers , like rock and roll,make a $1000. per week ,etc) they play the numbers game most people will blow out within a day or two some will give it a few days, always a steady flow coming in they sell things out of the car tools , household stuff,cheap perfume all kinds of stuff.if you get into one of those RUN FAST!!
And these job search sites not bad,But image thousands of people sending resumes to each place.Picture this your next to your pool,the water is one of those sites, now close your eyes tight through a penny in don’t open your eyes , keep them closed jump in an find it. It’s kind off the beaten path but i think you get the meaning.
Now shit some one responded and wants to have an interview,Great! You can be sure that they have a few hundred set up also! You are going to have 10-15 minutes to land that job!! And 15seconds from the time they see you” they have decided if they like you or not! Really!!
Think about it ever go to a chain store.Salesperson comes up to help you,and for what ever reason you don’t like him or your not comfortable and you haven’t given him a chance to do anything, Same thing. The only difference is at an interview you can turn it around, MAYBE and it won’t be easy.
What you should do before an interview is load all your guns! Your going to war! What i mean is that you need to know what companies except, want to hear, and how you act.See in school they don’t teach that, i don’t know that may be a good thing times have changed. I ll give you One tip and it works for me every time and it also works for one of my sons sean, who does sales while he is finishing college,I told him he looked at me like i was nuts,( he does that a lot) here it goes when your in an interview or anything that puts you into a one-on-one at that moment you a salesman your selling you!! Picture a $100.00 bill on that persons forehead, look at it do not take your eyes off it, you want that bill in your pocket! You see by you looking at that bill you never lost eye contact, the person talking to you, thinks your making eye contact but your not your looking at that bill, you want that bill,your not looking at the floor, or anywhere else, then when the interview is over and you get the job you pluck it off there head and folded up and in your pocket.
