Meetings, Bloody Meetings!
Management October 10th. 2008, 2:23amAs reported in the Wichita Eagle, a recent survey of 2,000 respondents revealed that most business managers spend between one-fifth and two-thirds of their work week in internal meetings.
Those who work in larger companies were more likely to say that meetings were a waste of time than those who work in small companies.
Meetings should be the intervention of last resort-occurring only if e-mail, one-on-one talks, or other communication doesn’t work.
When meetings are necessary, make them short, focused and productive.
Facilitation Skills Development
- Do meetings in your organization tend to go awry?
- Are they too long? Too unfocused?
- How do people feel after meetings?
- Do you wish the decisions made in meetings were actually implemented?
If these issues seem familiar, your organization can benefit from Facilitation Skills Development.
What is It?
Facilitation Skills Development is a focused group process in which participants learn and practice all the foundational skills and tools of small and large-group facilitation. Using the philosophy that “with the right tools, anyone can lead productive meetings,” Guila Muir and Associates works with your group to develop the best in-house facilitators.
Facilitation Skills Development helps any organization that must:
- Plan
- Make decisions
- Develop processes
- Collaborate with clients, community members, or politicians
- Celebrate
- Orient newcomers
- Solve problems
Appropriate for small and large group facilitators at all skill levels, Facilitation Skills Development can be made flexible to achieve your organization’s learning and time constraints.
