How do you define a leader? A leader is capable of influencing and inspiring the people around him to voluntarily commit towards accomplishing a certain goal. In short, a leader should be able to drive his followers in the direction in order to achieve a goal.

The task of driving and motivating is perhaps on the to-do list of a leader. However, what a good leader should have is a clear vision, one which will be of common interest of not only the leader himself, but also for the followers.

One picture really caught my attention when I Googled “leadership”. Think of a leader as a arrowhead, and the rest of the arrow comprises of the rest of the team. The arrow and the arrowhead moves as one towards the bull’s-eye, which is the common goal of course.

Driving a team towards the bull’s-eye is a feat any of us could easily accomplish as a leader. However, a good leader could perform more than that. Taking the example of the arrow and the target earlier, what if there was a heavy fog where everyone’s line of sight is reduced significantly.

Think of this thick fog as an uncertainty in the future. Most could not even tell the direction of the target. For all they know, they could be heading on the opposite direction from their target.

For this lost bunch, coupled with the thick fog, a true leader would be able to guide the entire team and align them towards their goal.
